Meet at 10am at Borth Youth Hostel and set off for your day of adventure.
Start the day by sampling the peat, hunting for animal prints and exploring flood damage, uncovering the science which may lie beneath the sand.Hear stories which surround this forest, observing the colours and textures of the various sediments, the shape of the sea, the nature of the trees and how it feels to walk amongst their ruined visage. Head indoors to undertake science and arts based works:
Room 1: Examination of the samples collected in the morning, microscope analysis of plants and animal remains they may contain and an introduction to how palaeontologists reconstruct the past.
Room 2: Responding to the scientific fieldwork and walk along the beach participants will create their own visual legend with charcoal and clay, drawing pictures and sculpting models. They could also choose to record the scientific process via illustration and to write their own legend about the forest as a story or poem.
Visitors will be able to move between the two rooms, participating in both. They should be able to take their creations away with them.
Overnight: Choice of Pebbles Guesthouse or Borth YHA.
Day 3: Cors Fochno - Fairytales and science
Meet the rest of today's group at 2pm at Ynyslas visitors centre.
