Swansea is the gateway to the Gower Peninsula, the UK’s first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and the birthplace of famous Welsh poet Dylan Thomas.
Spend some time exploring this exciting, historic city and the beautiful surrounding coastal area on this fantastic city break.
Day 1: Arrival in Swansea
Today you will arrive in Swansea, a bustling metropolitan city on Wales South coast. You will have the evening free to relax in your hotel.
Day 2: Swansea
Today take some time to explore Swansea city. There is plenty to see in the town centre, including the city’s oldest building, the ruined Swansea Castle, the Swansea Museum, a treasure trove of Swansea’s past and present, and Swansea’s Maritime Quarter. Spend the afternoon exploring the Dylan Thomas connections in the city, including his birthplace 5 Cwmdonkin Drive and the Dylan Thomas Centre where you will find an intriguing exhibition on the poet’s life and work.
Day 3: Swansea
Today take the time to visit the renowned Gower Peninsula. Start at the Victorian seaside village of Mumbles is at the western edge of Swansea Bay where you’ll find a unique selection of boutiques, craft shops, galleries and famous Welsh/Italian ice cream parlours, as well as a medieval castle and Mumbles Pier; a popular attraction for over 100 years. Continue on to the Gower and discover this breathtaking area. Topping the list of beaches to visit is the award-winning Rhossili and Three Cliffs Bays, although the whole area is beautiful!
Day 4: Departure Journey
Today you will begin your onward journey after breakfast. If time allows, why not indulge in some retail therapy? The city centre has lots of big name stores, independent shops and art galleries including the popular Glynn Vivian Gallery
